Chris was in Bunbury Felters for 12 months but has gone back to Canada now. We were sorry to see her leave. She did some very lovely work while here.

Dyeing with eucalyptus leaves, leaves were grey colour before boiling up, its on pai silk.

Yellow Pages Basket

This basket was shown to me at the Porongerup Spin In, it was purchesd in Tasmania at the Bothwell Spin In by a freind of mine but she cannot remember who made it. Its made from the yellow pages books
I think it is just very clever.

Kings Park Visit

Took our visitors to see Kings Park and boast about the Boab Tree. We saw this tree on the semi trailer in Halls Creek where they had pulled up for the night, so I just had to touch the top of the tree, didn't I, something you don't get to do very often at all. It had to travel 3200km to Perth on this semi trailer.
Its looking good now, but did get damage on the way to Perth but is being looked after very well. Considering this is estimated to be 750 years old, its doing very well I think.
Planted in Kings Park in July 2008
Unfortunately some body had to write on it, some people have no respect for anything these days, not even themselves.
So if you can, get along and have a look at it.

Travelling away

I have been away from 11th March to 10th May on a Tractor trek.

Tractors had vans or campers behind them

We left Western Australia travelling across the Nullabour to Macedon,
where we met up with others ready to board the ferry on 6th April
to go across the ocean to lovely Tasmania.

We travelled for 3 weeks going from the east coast then back west coast.

Along the way we were raising money for the
Children's Hospital.

Then it was back to W.A.
All in all was a great experience.
Did not see much felt along the way
we probably were not in the right places.

11th Southern Hemisphere Felting Convergance 2011

Well its all over,
being on the committee was very inspiring and very satisfying,
it was a great success all around.

It was especially nice to catch up with people I had not seen for years
having met them at previous convergences,
it was a lovely to see them here in W.A.

Quite a few come over on the train which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Willy Wag Tails

Our willy wag tails that have been around for 11 years
have this year decided to nest on our verandah.
They started one nest, then another, then the current one.

They still add to the second one every now and again.

3 eggs in nest should be hatched this weekend,
as they only take 14 days to hatch

These are growing in my garden, so unusual just had to show you.

When finished flowering 2 leaves come out
and get to be about a metre long hanging down each side.

Would love to know proper name does anyone know....

Eucalyptus and Rust Dyeing

Today I used silk paj and wrapped rusty pieces of metal up in and secured.
Put it into a pot of eucalyptus cinerea (silver dollar) leaves and boiled for about an hour.

Let dry and unwrapped to find a beautiful piece of coloured silk

Nuno Felting

Found this polyester fabric in Wellington N.Z. last October.

Its stretchy and quite open so thought it would be interesting to felt.

Decided after doing sample to put different coloured wools onto it.
Turned the fabric into different coloured sections which look great to me.
